BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Family, friends, and the Birmingham community are mourning the loss of Dylan Robert Rizzo, who passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the age of 30 following cardiac arrest related to a recently diagnosed heart condition.
Loved ones remember Dylan as a man whose life was defined by faith, creativity, entrepreneurship, and an unwavering commitment to serving others. Though his life was tragically cut short, those closest to him say his legacy will continue through his family, his ministry, and the countless people he inspired.
Born on March 7, 1996, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Dylan built a life centered on innovation, relationships, and service. He became widely known for his entrepreneurial vision, founding the golf apparel brand Baggy Pants Golf and serving as co-founder of Tour Caddy and Vzion Creative. Colleagues and friends admired his ability to transform ideas into reality while encouraging others to pursue their own dreams with confidence and purpose.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, Dylan was recognized for his warm personality and genuine care for others. Friends often said he never met a stranger, recalling his infectious enthusiasm, quick sense of humor, and natural ability to make people feel welcomed and valued.
A graduate of Briarwood Christian School, Dylan excelled in both football and basketball. The friendships and lessons he gained through athletics remained important to him throughout his life, shaping the character and leadership he displayed in every aspect of his journey.
His faith was the foundation of everything he did. As a devoted member of Church of the Highlands, Dylan dedicated his time to serving through various ministries, seeking to encourage others and strengthen the local church. Family members say his relationship with Christ guided his decisions and gave purpose to his work, his friendships, and his everyday life.
Above all, Dylan’s greatest joy was his family. He married Layne Stone Rizzo on July 8, 2024, a relationship he often described as one of life’s greatest blessings. The birth of their son, Redding Robert Rizzo, brought him immense happiness, and those closest to him say he treasured every moment spent as a husband and father.
Dylan is survived by his wife, Layne Stone Rizzo; his son, Redding Robert Rizzo; his parents, Dino and Delynn Rizzo; his sisters, McCall Haymon and Isabella Rizzo; his brother-in-law, Trey Haymon; his niece, Harlow Haymon; his grandparents, Wayne and Dee Austin; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Gloria Rizzo, Ernestine York, and Gertrude Austin.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, beginning at noon, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1 p.m. at Church of the Highlands, Grants Mill Campus in Birmingham. A reception will follow the service.
In honor of Dylan’s memory, family friends have established the Redding Robert Rizzo Trust to support the future of his young son.
Dylan Robert Rizzo will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, faithful Christian, visionary entrepreneur, and compassionate friend. His life, though far too short, left an enduring impact on his family, his church, the business community, and everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of faith, generosity, and purpose will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
