The Midlands community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Austin LeSane, a beloved Ridge View High School football coach, mentor, and co-operator of the popular local business FishinFellas, who was killed in a tragic head-on collision in Richland County, South Carolina, on Friday, July 10, 2026.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. on McCords Ferry Road near Lake Dogwood Circle. Master Trooper William Bennett said Austin LeSane was driving a 2014 GMC Sierra pickup truck northbound when it collided head-on with a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer.

LeSane was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the crash. The driver of the Freightliner sustained injuries and was transported by emergency medical personnel to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision as troopers work to determine what led to the crash.
